The high-level explosive activity at the volcano continues.
A massive and very dangerous explosion occurred at 04:00 UTC today and even several times stronger than the previous powerful eruptions.
The massive eruption, captured and seen by satellites Himawari-8 and GOES-West, generated an impressive eruption column sending a pyroclastic material up to 20 km altitude! and sent big shockwaves traveling along vast stretches in the Pacific. NIWA's (National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research) climate stations from New Zealand recorded a short air pressure increase as atmospheric shock waves pulsed across the country. The people alerted that the eruption was heard 1,300 miles away from the eruption site.
The eruption triggered a tsunami that has impacted the south of Tonga by 1.2 meters of waves. The Fijian government warned of waves as high as 3 meters including Vanuatu and other Pacific islands issued similar warnings. People have been evacuated from coastal areas and more evacuations are now in progress.

UPDATE: The eruption plume reached the stratosphere level (approx. 30 km).
